SEBASTIEN TELLIER (09/23)
(Recordmakers)
Hailing from the tradition of great libertine French crooners à la Gainsbourg and Polnareff, dance-pop provocateur, Sébastien Tellier, exudes the same kind of characteristic nonchalance his forbearers were famous for. Signed by Record Makers (Air’s former label), Tellier’s latest album, aptly titled, Sexuality, was produced by Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and exists somewhere between a lascivious film soundtrack and digitized soul. On his third LP, the French-Latin lover invites the old Europe of Christophe, Robert Wyatt, Ennio Morricone and Giorgio Moroder to flirt outrageously with the new school of contemporary R&B, resulting in a fantastic bacchanalia that marries the phantoms of airy Californian music with the harshness of minimalist electro.
